Welcome to Point-Of-Focus

This group is for photographs featuring Depth of Field- meaning that some area of the photo is in focus, and parts of the surrounding area, background or foreground is out of focus. The Depth of Field can be subtle or dramatic.

Also note that this is not another place for everyday macro photography of plants, flowers and bees. If your photo is similar to this… or… , though I'm sure your work is spectacular, please do not submit it to this group. There are plenty of groups for this kind of art.

Photos should have meaning (or point), tell a story, or evoke some kind of emotion. Humor, hope, happiness, anger, etc..

At this time, there is a limit to two submissions per day per member, so please submit only what you consider your best. If your photo does not meet the above criteria, it may not be accepted in order to maintain the integrity of the group. Fair enough?

All types of photography are welcome- portraits, artistic nudes, places and things. Black & white, sepia, color, film or digital are all welcome. As long as long as there is "Point of Focus"!

Thanks and ENJOY!

Dear Point of Focus members,

I am Phostructor . I have been delegated by the group founder Reydoo :iconreydoo: as co-founder, and for the last few months I have been doing almost all the accept/decline and other admin work. It is mostly fun, and I have been so pleased by the number of people who have joined after I requested one of their photographs. The level of talent in this group is very high.

To keep the quality high, and to keep the gallery interesting, I ask everyone to take just a minute to browse the gallery, and refresh the concept we base the group on:

:iconpoint-of-focus: is about using the camera’s expressive ability that results from Depth of Field. When you use depth of field to keep some of the image in focus while allowing the rest to go “soft” you can make very evocative pictures in a way that only a camera can. BUT sometimes the effect is just an effect, and doesn’t make a stronger photo.

When you photograph a flower or an animal close-up it is often pretty and pleasing, but not necessarily expressive. I ask you to look at your Vegetation and Non-Human submissions a second time before you submit, and consider if it is just pretty, or if it has ‘something more’ going for it. I may decline a few more photos going forward. If I don’t say why I decline a submission, please feel free to ask why and I will explain.

Please feel free to make any comments about the group - your input is welcome.

Steven - aka Phostructor
